FESSH Fellowship

One applicant within FESSH can visit 3 UK Hand Surgery Centres in August 2021, supported by the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.

The successful Fellow from the FESSH will join three other Fellows from selected international hand societies to engage in a two-week visit of three different UK Hand Surgery Centres, allowing 3-4 days of learning and observing in each centre. The Visiting Fellowship will take place Wednesday 25th August – Tuesday 7th September 2021 and culminates with complimentary registration for the BSSH Autumn Scientific Meeting (8th – 10th September 2021) and attendance at the Society Dinner.

The Fellowship in 2021 will rotate between The Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby, The Hand Centres in Manchester, and the Hand and Wrist Service in Oxford. Travel and accommodation arrangements within the UK will be organised and paid for by BSSH on behalf of the Fellows. However, travel arrangements from and returning to the country of origin will be the responsibility of the Fellow.

Applications including a CV and a motivation letter can be sent to joris.duerinckx@gmail.com

Deadline of application: 20th March 2021.

Eligibility

The Fellowship is open to Full Members or Trainee Members of your Hand Society. Applicants should be in their final year of training, or no more than 5 years following completion of their surgical training / board certification.

COVID-19 contingency arrangements

BSSH remains hopeful that the ongoing international public health effort will succeed in bringing the current COVID-19 pandemic under control to allow safe international travel by the time the Fellowship is due to start. Should that not be the case, the successfully selected Fellow will retain the honour of the title ‘BSSH International Visiting Fellow 2021’ but the visit will not take place.
