Spring Congress 2024

Dear Friends & Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce our upcoming evening congress ‘Hand in Theatre’ dedicated to an intricate topic as radioprotection, fingertips and hot intriguing ethical controversies. As President of the Belgian Hand Group, it is with great enthusiasm that I extend this invitation to all members of our esteemed community.

We will start with the radioprotection subject, we will learn how to protect ourselves as hand surgeons from irradiation and focus on the status of echosurgery.

Next, we will focus on the fingertip. Fingertips present unique challenges in hand surgery, requiring careful consideration and expertise to achieve optimal outcomes. Our congress aims to delve into the latest advancements, best practices, and case studies in this specialized field. We are honoured to welcome renowned international and interdisciplinary presenters on the topic such as amongst all high-quality speakers, Professors Velkeniers of Brussels and Dumontier from Guadeloupe. Together, let us deepen our understanding and enhance our approach to managing the fingertip.

The scientific event will be closed with an intriguing ethical focus on caring for hands, as we all do in a daily dedication. Again, we will enjoy an impressive international speaker, travelling from Marseille, Professor Magalon, who will teach us all about the meaningfulness and feasibility of hand rejuvenation, and fighting age in hand surgery, I am sure many of us hardly ever heard of this request by patients before (I didn’t). We will finalize the scientific session with a debate on ethical and organizational controversies of hand trauma and replantation.

I would like to strongly encourage you to join us for an insightful evening filled with knowledge-sharing, networking opportunities, and collaboration.

Last but not least, I am delighted to extend a heartfelt invitation to our general assembly, where we will come together to elect the new board and president of the Belgian Hand Group. As President, it has been an honour to serve our community, and I am excited to witness the next chapter unfold.

This pivotal moment in our organization’s journey marks an opportunity for fresh perspectives and renewed dedication to advancing the field of hand surgery in Belgium. Your participation and engagement are invaluable as we shape the future direction of our group.

Following the assembly, I invite you to join us for a warm reception, where we can celebrate our achievements, forge new connections, and toast to the continued success of the Belgian Hand Group.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to excellence in hand surgery.

Register now and join us on Tuesday, May 21.

Ilse Degreef, Belgian HandGroup President
