26/09/2024Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are happy to welcome you to the IBRA Advanced Course “Trauma and Reconstruction of the Upper Limb – Advanced Concepts in Wrist and Elbow Treatment“.
Injuries to the elbow and wrist are common and provide us with challenging decisions in our daily practice. An understanding of the surgical approaches, injury patterns and fixation options is essential for planning and executing the correct treatment.
With this established course, we offer a platform where participants engage closely with highly experienced faculty to learn about treating traumatic wrist and elbow conditions. Through case-based lectures and interactive discussions, our renowned faculty cover key topics in wrist and elbow surgery, helping participants grasp decision-making and management strategies for trauma and reconstructive surgery. This course provides a unique opportunity using pre-fractured specimen to address the right surgical approach, fracture fixation and soft tissue reconstruction.
We look forward to sharing this special format of lecture, discussions and cadaver lab, while socializing with peers and colleagues in the beautiful setting of Basel.

24/05/2024Dear Colleagues, dear friends
the Olympic Games taking place in France and also in Paris this summer 2024. So we want to dedicate the Hand Institute symposium 2024 to pathologies of the upper limb of athletes. In addition, the last Hand Institute symposium on this subject dates from 2005 and therefore an update seems necessary.
The pathologies of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand will be detailed according to the different sports: Ball, Contact, Rackets, Aquatics, Mountain, Mechanical.
Compared to 2005, we will report the progress made in screening, prevention, diagnosis (imaging) and treatments (injections, arthroscopy, minimally invasive)….
Top athletes will come and testify. Trainers, physiotherapists, sports doctors and surgeons will tell us about their approach to the pathologies of high-level athletes. During the Symposium, a large international Faculty of experts will report their experience through lectures, technical videos, contradictory debates and discussions with the audience. Welcome to Paris!

2024 04 05 Brussels Hand Symposium
05/04/2024The 28th Brussels Hand/Upper Limb Symposium, with as topic per-operative sonography, should have taken place in Genval in March 2020. It was first delayed, then finally cancelled, because of the Covid19 pandemics. As a substitute, some lectures of the symposium have been published as a written symposium in a special issue of the journal Hand Clinics. As the pandemics is now hopefully over, it is time to meet again - and that the Genval symposium finally takes place.

15/03/2024Dear Friends,
This 44th Annual Congress of the French Society for Microsurgery is a unique opportunity to stay up-to-date about some of the most specific or useful aspects of microsurgery.
Microsurgery melts into nearly every other speciality but this essential tool of our everyday practice remains misunderstood or feared by some. Our times are those of automation an IA, but this discipline remains a bastion of the finesse of human skill and thought. This is sometimes misinterpreted as a frozen, static surgery, but the understanding of its mechanisms is still evolving; indications change, techniques refine and modernize, as we will see again.
For example, even the founding dogma «always do one artery and at least one vein» will be challenged in our round table.
So, come and join us to talk about the future of microsurgery, update your skills, learn from the highly experimented field experts such as our Ukrainian colleagues who will visit us to share their experience, and share tips together!
